...this month's featured artist is: Munch

Edvard Munch is considered as one of the major symbolist painters, forerunner of the expressionist movement. "I don't paint what i see, but what i've seen" he said, to underline his distance from the (post)impressionism. Munch is interested in showing what happens inside his head, how his unrational side takes over the rational one and modifies the reality perceived... Read more >>.

Updates about this website status

Hello guys,
a lot of time has passed since my last update of the website....
Unluckly, the work for creating a single video, and write about it (in a foreign language, too!), is unbearable for me at this time...
But, i keep reading so many good comments about Art Videos, and this really makes me motivated to keep the website going.
I promise that I'll do my best to add as much as i can, but in the meanwhile... if you can, please support Art Videos or just leave your feedback. =)

Monet 2/2

Monet was a pure impressionist, a real master of the style, entirely focusing his attention on the colours and light effects of the landscapes that he used to paint en plain air.

He was a very prolific artist, who went on painting until the age of 86. During these years, he always remained loyal to the impressionism's guidelines, even when the movement started to decline in its popularity.

Picasso 2/2

And here is the page dedicated to one most famous and influent painters of the history of art, Pablo Picasso.
Even if he is best known for his cubist works, he also left us a lot of works in other styles: before strucking upon Cubism, Picasso went through realism, caricature, Blue Period and Rose Period.

Lempicka

Tamara de Lempicka (Łempicka), born Maria Górska in Warsaw, was a Polish Art Deco painter.

She lived in Russia until the Bolsheviks arrested her husband during the Russian Revolution, and fled to Paris with him after securing his release. There she enrolled at the Academie de la Grand Chaumiere and started studying privately. She was quite a prolific artist (in part facilitated by her spare simple style) and was much sought after as a portrait artist: her main subjects were sexy, bedroom-eyed women in stylish dress and haunting poses.

Renoir 2/2

Renoir's painting is probably the most carefree and lightheaded one among the impressionists: his scenes are happy, funny, sometimes sensual, the artist is fascinated by feminine beauty, and there are no other purposes in his works except personal pleasure.  Even his teacher used to yell at him, complaining that he was representing too frivolous scenes..

Raffaello

It was 1508 when Pope Julius II, to decorate his apartments, hired a team of artists in order to have them work on different parts of the suite simultaneously, confident that the pressure of competition would make them all do their best work, and as quickly as possible.

Rembrandt

Rembrandt was a master of introspective painting: no one could bring people's subtle emotions to life like he did, and because of his empathy for the human condition, he has been called "one of the great prophets of civilization.
For this reason he was also extolled as one of the greatest interpreters of biblical stories and narrative painting in general.
